The Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden in Alexandria, Virginia witnessed monumental moments in American history. Lead Historian Madeline Feierstein will cover the house’s near-250 year story, and how this Alexandrian home helped shape our nation. Built by Revolutionary patriots, this site led the charge in medical advancements, treated Civil War soldiers, hosted presidents, and exemplified the trials and tribulations of historic preservation. A residence turned educational center, the museum also reflects on the role of its enslaved and domestic workers. Attendees will meet those who lived within its walls and explore the legacies left behind today.
Madeline Feierstein is an Alexandria, VA historian specializing in psychiatric institutions, military hospitals, and prisons. A native of Washington, D.C., her work has been showcased across the Capital Region.
